“Displaced land" is a series of paintings made from one stone found in my hometown in Brazil. The mineral pigment which was displaced from the land alongside my body, references both my personal background and the relationship humans have to the land, as well as art historical movements, from cave paintings to land art to latin american radical women art movements. I emphasize the painting’s own constructedness in a way that continually reminds the viewers that even the most otherworldly imagery are made from Earthly material.
Alongside the paintings, I have collaborated with Fer Boyd on a written piece.
The collaboration has come from a shared passion for language and for experiencing the earth as a body.
